Ha Long Bay among world’s most beautiful natural wonders
Ha Phuong 17:25, 2019/04/02
From Hawaii’s Na Pali Coast to the Verdon Gorge in southeastern France, there are incredible places all over the planet.
Ha Long Bay in Vietnam has been named among 35 of the most beautiful natural wonders around the world, according to a list released by Business Insider, an American financial and business news website published by Insider Inc.

Ha Long Bay, Quang Ninh province.
Ha Long Bay, Quang Ninh province.
Ha Long Bay’s natural beauty makes it one of Vietnam’s number one tourist sites. The bay is also a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Business Insider advises travelers that the best way to see Ha Long’s awe-inspiring limestone towers is by boat. In fact, many tourists stay overnight on a boat in the bay.
Caño Cristales River in Colombia tops the list, followed by Waitomo Glowworm Caves in New Zealand, Lake Hillier in Australia, The Dead Sea in Israel and Jordan, The Stone Forest in China, Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia, Masazir Lake in Azerbaijan, etc.
Earlier, The New York Daily News, a US newspaper based in New York City, named Ha Long Bay the number one destination among 15 natural wonders to see before they disappear.
People go to Ha Long Bay expecting an active adventure. The UNESCO World Heritage Site puts explorative kayakers amidst striking limestone islands, rugged rock formations and low caves. The bay in the Gulf of Tonkin includes 1,600 islands and islets. Most of them are uninhabited and unaffected by a human presence.
“Unfortunately, increased flooding in the region has caused coal-fired power plant run-off to stream into the bay. Also, extreme weather contributes to quicker erosion,” The New York Daily News wrote.
In 2018, Quang Ninh province welcomed 5.2 million visitors, a 22% increase from the same period last year. The sector earned over VND24 trillion (US$1.03 billion), up 28% year on year, according to Quang Ninh Department of Tourism.
