The event was organized to introduce and promote the image of Ha Giang and its potential strengths, especially in the fields of tourism and high-technology agriculture, as well as to attract and mobilize aid projects from international non-governmental organizations in Vietnam.
In order to promote the socioeconomic development of the province, Ha Giang strives to maintain local security and social order as well as create an environment that is favorable and fair to domestic and foreign enterprises alike. "At the moment, there are 2,120 enterprises and 753 co-operatives operating in the province," said Nguyen Van Son, Chairman of the Ha Giang People's Committee.
The chairman affirmed that with its plentiful potential and advantages for development, the province wishes to expand and establish co-operation with its counterparts in developed countries in the region, as well as with international organizations and foreign embassies in Vietnam to network and attract investment for economic development.
According to statistics published by the Ha Giang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in 2017 the province attracted over 1 million tourists, 169,689 of whom were foreigners—an increase of 20% compared to 2016. The province’s total revenue from tourism reached VND913.6 billion (US$40 million), up 14.9% over the same period last year.
In order to achieve the above results, Ha Giang province successfully organized many important events in 2017, such as Khau Vai Love Market, the 3rd Buckwheat Flower Festival, and a series of Ha Giang Tourism Promotion events in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
Also within the framework of the conference, delegates of international organizations suggested that in the course of development Ha Giang should ensure the preservation of the ethnic community’s identity alongside with the creation of sustainable development models. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) said it was ready to provide loans as well as development assistance to the province.
Responding to various proposals and suggestions from businesses and international organizations, the leaders of Ha Giang province pledged to use the funds promised effectively, paying attention to maintain its cultural identity and diversity, as well as capitalize on the advantages of its global plateau. Accordingly, the province would develop specific tourism models closely connected to the preservation of the ethnic communities’ culture and identity. Ha Giang province and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam pledged to remove all obstacles in front of investment, creating the most favorable conditions for businesses and international organizations to come to this region.
