Former Vingroup CEO appointed vice chair of Bamboo Airways
The appointment is part of Bamboo Airways` plan to finalize its organizational structure before launching the first flight.
Bamboo Airways, with the backing of conglomerate FLC Group, has appointed Duong Thi Mai Hoa its new vice president, starting at the end of this month, FLC Group stated in a statement.
Hoa, 49, previously hold key positions such as CEO of An Binh Bank (ABBank), CEO and CFO of Vietnam's largest privately-run Vingroup (2012 - 2017), CEO of Vietnam International Bank (VIB) (2011 - 2012), deputy CEO of VIB's retail banking (2009 - 2011), CFO of Oracle Vietnam, among others.
Recently, Bamboo Airways has appointed Andrian Hamilton - Manns, former CEO of Radixx International in Asia, its CCO. Hamilton also was CCO of India's largest airline IndiGo.
These appointments are part of Bamboo Airways' plan to finalize its organizational structure before launching the first flight.
Bamboo Airways was forced to delay its official launch to the end of 2018 instead of the initially scheduled October 10 due to the fact that it could not obtain an aviation license on time.
Dang Tat Thang, CEO of Bamboo Airways, said the airline is in the process of obtaining the aviation license.
According to Thang, this is the final legal requirement for Bamboo Airways to jump into Vietnam's aviation industry.
"We expect to launch the first flight at the end of the fourth quarter," Thang was quoted by Zing.vn as saying.
Bamboo Airways plans to provide domestic flights connecting FLC's resort complexes in Vietnam, in addition to international flights from major cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to countries in the region.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has given his approval to the Bamboo Airways investment project at Phu Cat Airport, Binh Dinh province with Viet Bamboo Airlines JSC, a subsidiary of FLC Group operating Bamboo Airways, as project owner on July 9.
Vietnam currently has four airlines, including national carrier Vietnam Airlines, budget operator Jetstar Pacific Airlines (partly owned by Vietnam Airlines), budget carrier Vietjet Aviation, and Vietnam Air Services (VASCO).Bamboo Airways delays official launch to fourth quarter.
