This event, organized by the Hanoi People’s Committee in coordination with Phuong Dong Joint Stock Company, aims to bring a colorful mid-autumn festival to children in Hanoi.
Especially, the festival will introduce a hundreds of colorful giant lanterns and stars on display along the road, which is promised to be an ideal check in area for families, pedestrians and visitors on the night of the mid-autumn festival.
Various activities will be held during the event including comedy, music and circus performances by popular artists such as Xuan Bac and Tu Long. In addition, children will be in with a chance of receiving interesting gifts like traditional folk toys and participating in a flash mob dance on the pedestrian street.
Visitors can call at pavilions selling traditional toys for the mid-autumn festival and join dragon dances, lantern processions and a street carnival through the ancient streets of Hanoi’s Old Quarter.
In addition, children in Hanoi will have a chance to discover the traditional toys of the mid-autumn festival through the “Discovering Mid-Autumn toys” program held at the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology on this weekend.
Participants can learn how to make traditional mid-autumn toys of Vietnamese children, including star-shaped lanterns, “paper professor”, paper masks, "to he" (toy figurines), and spinning - humming tops.
The essential activities of the mid-autumn festival - lion dances, folk games, making traditional toys, moon-cakes and Vietnamese green rice flakes from the famous Vong village, will also be held during the event.
