The “Expo – Russia Vietnam 2019” with a series of sideline activities is expected to promote trade and investment activities among Vietnamese and Russian businesses to a higher level in the coming time.

The event was kicked off on November 14 with the opening of the Vietnam-Russia Interregional Business forum at the National Exhibition Construction Center.

The three-day event is jointly held biennially in Vietnam by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and Russian Zarubezh Expo Corporation since 2015. This year's event is expected to be an occasion to promote trade among not only the Russian and Vietnamese business communities in Vietnam but also businesses from ASEAN countries and Eurasian Economic Union members.

Speaking at the launch of the expo, Chairman of the VCCI Vu Tien Loc said that the event attracted 500 enterprises from both Russia and Vietnam in core industries including agriculture, energy, transportation, pharmacy, among others.

This is an occasion for Vietnamese businesses to access and absorb experience in management and modern technology from their Russian peers.

Notably, this is the first time Vietnam has pavilions of 22 provinces and cities presenting their potential, strengths, and policies to attract investment. Russia is represented with nearly 200 booths of 150 businesses.

With the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union (VN-EAEU FTA) taking effect since 2015, Vietnam expects its textile and footwear products, agriculture, forestry, fisheries, electronics, and consumer goods to have wider access to the Russian and the Eurasian economic union market.

On the other hand, Vietnam is ready to import Russian agricultural and industrial products, especially those of energy, petroleum exploiting, and industrial equipment
