Da Nang city launches the tourist season
Da Nang launched the tourist season in 2018 at the Bien Dong Park in the city’s Son Tra peninsular.
With a programme of more than 20 activities, aiming to lure and entertain visitors to Da Nang city. Prominent among the events will be a Kayak racing competition, a kite contest and pavilions introducing Da Nang tourism information, sea cuisines, tour services and performance of sea sports. Music performances will also be organised every night.
A painting contest themed sea and islands will be held for children, together with various other activities. Special decorations have been installed in My Khe beach.
The programme aims to promote new tourism services of the city and provide more entertainment to locals and visitors during the four-day holiday on the occasion of the 43rd anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30) and the 132nd May Day (May 1), according to Nguyen Duc Vu, Vice Director of the Management Board of Son Tra peninsular and Da Nang beaches.
It is also expected to raise public awareness of protecting sea environment, he added.
Da Nang is famous for its beautiful destinations, especially beaches. Visitors can admire the natural wonders in Ba Na Hills, explore the jungle in Son Tra Peninsula, and pray at Linh Ung Pagoda with Vietnam’s highest Bodhisattva Statue at 67 metres.
In 2017, about 6.6 million visitors came to Da Nang, up 19% over the previous year and 4.8% higher than its yearly target. The figure included 4.3 million domestic tourists, up 11.3% year-on-year. The central city earned over VND19.4 trillion (US$853.96 million) in revenue, an increase of 20.6% from 2016, according to Da Nang Department of Tourism.
Da Nang hopes to welcome nine million visitors by 2020, with 30% being international holidaymakers, and rake in VND31.5 trillion (US$1.38 billion) in revenue.
