Da Lat among world’s places you can retire abroad on the cheap
Live and Invest Overseas recently unveiled its annual index of top overseas destinations for retirement—based on affordability, residency options, health care, safety, and lifestyle, among other factors.
Da Lat, Vietnam has been named among five places you can retire abroad on the cheap, according to a list released by Live and Invest Overseas, a trusted and savvy source for information on international living, retiring abroad, etc.
Da Lat, a city of about 400,000 people in Central Vietnam’s southern highlands, is a growing tourist destination and an ideal base camp for retirees. It’s known for its mild temperatures, a wonderland of recreational opportunities and French-inspired charm - hence the nickname Le Petit Paris. It’s also extremely inexpensive, making it possible for a couple to live on about US$1,000 a month. “Dinner at a local restaurant might cost you a few dollars per person,” Live and Invest Overseas wrote.
Algarve in Portugal tops the list, followed by Canggu in Bali, Indonesia, Città Sant’Angelo in Italy, Cuenca in Ecuador, Da Lat in Vietnam.
Earlier, Da Lat has been named among the must-see and off-the-beaten-path Asian destinations for those wanting to take the road less traveled, according to a list released by Daily Hive, a leading digital publication with hyper-local focus.
“Dalat also has a slightly cooler climate, and it’s popular with outdoor adrenaline junkies who want to try their hand at white water rafting, canyoning and mountain biking,” Daily Hive wrote.
Da Lat in Lam Dong province welcomed more than 426,000 foreign visitors in 2018, a 21.3% increase from the same period last year.
