Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee received Swedish business delegation
On October 5, Chairman of Hanoi People`s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung had a meeting with a delegation of 18 leading Swedish enterprises, that has a working visit in Hanoi, led by Minister for EU Affairs and Trade Ann Linde.

At the meeting, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee thanked the Swedish Government for cooperating and supporting Vietnam and Hanoi Capital during the war as well as the renovation. By the way, City Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung introduced the development direction and Hanoi's achievements over the last time.
At the meeting, Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung said Hanoi is calling for investment in such fields as health care, education, smart urban transport infrastructure, waste and waste water treatment technology, particularly electricity generation from waste processing.
He named 37 transport projects needing investment, including six metro routes, eight bridges over the Hong (Red) River, and the improvement of bus services in terms of staff, vehicles and technology. Chung also emphasised the city’s hope to find partners for the training of quality human resources such as managerial and administrative officials and skilled workers.
On her part, Minister Ann Linne said areas in which Hanoi needs investment and partners are the strength of Swedish enterprises. She pledged to work to foster the comprehensive cooperation between Swedish enterprises with Hanoi in the future.
Minister for EU Affairs and Trade Ann Linde confirmed that in the Swedish business delegations to Vietnam this time, there are many companies with professional fields perfectly fits with the city's development orientation. Sweden expressed confidence, the key to development is a combination and mutual support of governments, companies and researchers. In particular, Ms. Ann Linde said that the project to build the smart city has potential in cooperation between Sweden and Hanoi. Accordingly, the idea is to use resources intelligently combining with information technology to harness the potential, reduce pollution, improve people's lives, towards sustainable development. Ms. Ann Linde also expects that the visit will open opportunities for cooperation between Swedish enterprises in Hanoi on specific areas.
Agreed with the proposal of the Swedish business delegations, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee also discussed the issues of bilateral cooperation potential. First, Hanoi is building the project to improve the quality of the bus, including bus replacement generation of energy saving, internal training quality contingent of driving, conducting to plan new bus routes, integration system of electronic bus tickets and upcoming tender will conduct for 500 buses. Second, for distributing 4G network of Vietnam telecom corporations is also an important issue in the process of government building power mail as well as the goal of building smart cities of the Capital. Third, investment cooperation, technology transfer production of paper bags that are environmentally friendly, limiting the use of plastic bags in the Capital, contributing to environmental protection. Forth, cooperation in the field of industrial consulting, high tech, living and medicine. Fifth, cooperation in timber production issues, in the context that Hanoi has more than 300 villages located in production wood crafts. Sixth, water and garbage treatment in the city. And seventh, collaborative smart city construction including building e-government, providing services through the Internet. In recent years, Hanoi has made efforts to cooperate with foreign corporations to build framework project on smart cities. "Hanoi will actively introduce investment opportunities, build smart cities of the Capital to the Government, the Swedish businesses," City Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung stressed.
Minister for EU Affairs and Trade Force Ann Linde confirmed that the issues mentioned by the City leader are very practical and open up more information about the opportunities of bilateral cooperation. Ms. Linde confirmed, Swedish embassies and trade commissioners will continue to be the focal and efficient point between the Swedish government and Hanoi; at the mean time expressing her desire that cooperation opportunities and policies of Hanoi will be open to Swedish businesseses.
In the framework of the meeting, Hanoi City's leaders exposed, initially exchanged with representatives of Sweden's leading companies such as Automobile Manufacturing Company of Volvo, Erricson Company, Swedish Wood Company.
