Chairman Chung extended Christmas greetings to Catholic followers
On the occasion of Christmas, Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung yesterday paid a visit to the Evangelical Church of Vietnam (North) and Hanoi Evangelical Church.
On behalf of city leaders, Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung offered Christmas greetings to Pastor Nguyen Huu Mac, Head of the Evangelical Church of Vietnam (North), Pastor Bui Quoc Phong, Head of the Ha Noi Evangelical Church, and all priests as well as followers. He highly appreciated achievement and contribution of the churches in different fields in 2016, especially in social affairs, international exchanges and movements.
In an effort to ensure a good New Year and Lunar New Year for the people, Hanoi has spent over VND 400 billion on people having special contribution to the country and the poor. Nguyen Duc Chung emphasized that in 2017, the city will face different challenges and difficulties; therefore, he expected for further contribution of the Evangelical Church of Vietnam (North), Hanoi Evangelical Church and followers to social affairs, poverty reduction and cultural lifestyle development.
On behalf of the Evangelical Church of Vietnam (North), Pastor Nguyen Huu Mac expressed his thanks for the city’s support. He also confirmed to encourage followers to comply with polices of the Party and the State, and join hands with the others to boost socio-economic growth. Pastor Bui Quoc Phong, Head of the Hanoi Evangelical Church, extended his sincere thanks to the city leader, and pledged for further contribution to the capital city’s development.
The same day, Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai visited and offered Christmas greetings to Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Ha Noi (40 Nha Chung Street, Hoan Kiem District). Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi Vu Hong Khanh, Head of the Municipal Party Committee’s Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Lan Huong and Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Quoc Hung were present at the reception.
Secretary of Hanoi Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai wished Archbishop of Archdiocese of Hanoi Pierre Nguyen Van Nhon, priests, dignitaries and followers a merry Christmas. According to Hai, despite of difficulties in 2016, Ha Noi witnesses the highest growth in six years (8.3%), remarkable changes of the economic structure and significant progress in urban order and civilization. He also expressed pleasure for achievement of the Archdiocese of Ha Noi, and acknowledged contribution of the Catholic followers to city’s development.
Hanoi has been increasing effort to build cultural institution, restore and protect traditional culture in each family, so that family is really a cell of society. In order to reach this target, the city will closely cooperate with the Archdiocese and expect for further contribution of the Catholic followers, Hoang Trung Hai emphasized.
On behalf of Archdiocese of Hanoi - Roman Catholic Church, Archbishop Pierre Nguyen Van Nhon expressed sincere thanks to the city leader, and confirmed to make further contribution to building a beautiful capital city.
After the visit, Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai visited Nguyen Thi Bich, a Catholic follower. He wished Bich and her family a merry Christmas, and thanked her for contribution to building cultural lifestyle and consolidating solidarity in the area.
The same day, city officials led by Vice Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee Dao Duc Toan and Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Van Suu visited Ham Long Parish. Dao Duc Toan highly appreciated contribution of the Catholic followers to city's economic and social growth, and expected for their further support. On behalf of Ham Long Parish, the Vice Head Priest expressed sincere thanks and confirmed to join hands with Ha Noi leaders and people for the city' development.
