Central coastal tourism to benefit from EU-funded project
Under the EU-funded capacity development programme for environmentally and socially responsible tourism in Vietnam (EU-ESRT), a website will be built to help promote tourism in the central coastal region, where owns beautiful beaches and numerous destinations recognised by the UNESCO as world cultural heritages.
The EU-funded project will be mainly focused on provinces of Thua Thien-Hue and Quang Nam and Danang city.
The website aims to boost the central coastal region's tourism services and products, and support visitors in seeking tourist information. It is expected to help increase sources of income for the localities.
The site, which is scheduled to be put into operation in this July, will cover information on attractive destinations, popular tourism activities, must-eat dishes and trips worth exploring.
In addition, the website will also provide information related to visa regulations for international tourists, weather, tourist transport support centres and accommodation establishments.
The three localities are famous for tangible and intangible cultural heritages of the world and numerous beautiful beaches such as the Complex of Hue Monuments, the “Nha nhac” (royal court music), Hoi An ancient town and My Son Sanctuary.
They also boast biospheres and national parks with various species of flora and fauna.
In 2015, the localities strenghthened connections in promoting regional tourism and developing new products to lure more holiday-makers to the region.
Along with sea travel, Danang city has been focusing on the development of entertainment services. Thua Thien-Hue has been concentrating on cultural tourism through the organisation of cultural events and arts performances and introduction of local specialties. Quang Nam has been promoting eco-tourism and community-based tourism.
According to tourism experts, the region should develop unique products to avoid duplication and build inter-provincial, inter-regional tours, especially linked to Hanoi capital and HCM City, where are the country's two largest tourist transit areas.
