The number of international tourists to the capital was estimated to rise by 30% to 125,000 people during the week-long Tet (Lunar New Year) festival, according to the Hanoi Department of Tourism.

The local tourism industry estimated to earn more than VND1.28 trillion (US$56.5 million ) during the biggest holiday of the year, up 19% year-on-year.
The Vietnamese capital has welcomed 5 million foreign tourists in 2017, up 23% against the previous year, surpassing the set target of 15%. Hanoi expects to welcome 5.5 million foreigners among the more than 25.4 million tourists in 2018, according to director-general of Hanoi Department of Tourism, Tran Duc Hai.
