Belgium willing to facilitate enterprises from Hanoi
On October 3, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People`s Committee, Mr. Nguyen The Hung welcomed the State secretary for Foreign Trade, Mr. Pieter De Crem.

As the relationship between Hanoi in particular, Vietnam in general and the Kingdom of Belgium is increasingly developing, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee confirmed the construction of modern and civilization city is thanks to the support from the international community including the Kingdom of Belgium.
Appreciating the cooperation activities of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium in the capital, the Vice Chairman of the People's Committee, Mr. Nguyen The Hung hopes that this visit of the State secretary for Foreign Trade will create favorable conditions for the two parties to continue expanding cooperation and enhance the exchange of development experience.
Mr. Pieter De Crem affirmed that the Kingdom of Belgium always considers Vietnam as a top priority trading partner, thereby being ready to create conditions for Ha Noi companies to come and seek for opportunities. According to him, this is the best time for the two parties to expand their cooperation in all fields, fostering a real relationship with effective projects, especially when the two sides are about to celebrate 45 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Kingdom of Belgium (1973-2018). Regarding this issue, Ambassador Jehanne Roccas proposed implementing cultural exchange activities on the occasion of diplomatic anniversary of the two countries in 2018 and expect to receive comments from the leaders of the city.
Also at the meeting, representatives of Belgian businesses expressed their wish that the Hanoi People's Committee would continue to create favorable conditions for them to operate and expand in the fields of health, heritage preservation, urban and infrastructure renewal....to enable Hanoi become a smart city.
In agreement with the proposal from the Belgian delegation, vice chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee reaffirmed that Hanoi is striving to become a smart city, with a strong demand for infrastructure. These are the strengths of Belgium, but bilateral cooperation is not commensurate with the potential, so he expected that Brussels business community, experts and authorities to continue to actively support the capital to develop on the basis of ensuring the common interest. In addition, Hanoi will continue to create conditions for bilateral cooperation while actively coordinating for successful diplomatic anniversary between Vietnam and Belgium Kingdom.
In advance, Vietnamese Deputy PM Vuong Dinh Hue on September had a working session with Belgian Deputy PM and Minister for Employment, Economy and Consumer Affairs Kris Peeters, and met with Senate President Christine Defraigne, and Minister-President of Flanders Geert Bourgeois on September 19 as part of his visit to the European nation. The two sides agreed to promptly roll out plans on trade, investment and culture promotion in each country to mark the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Belgium (1973-2018). They also agreed to maintain high-level meetings and the exchange of all-level delegations, while continuing to closely coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums.
