Bat Trang officially recognized as Hanoi's tourism destination

Bat Trang is one of the most well-known craft villages for domestic and foreign visitors to Hanoi thanks to a variety of lively and sophisticated ceramic earthenware.
The Hanoi People’s Committee has recognized Bat Trang village in Gia Lam district as one of its attractions to draw attention and investment from organizations, individuals and businesses to the craft village’s tourism activities, the Government Portal reported.

Hanoi also required all relevant departments and agencies including Tourism, Culture and Sports, Planning and Investment, among others, to jointly manage and tap into the tourism potential of Bat Trang in line with the current regulations of the State.

In the past few years, the number of travelers to Bat Trang is estimated at around 200,000 per year, of which foreign visitors accounted for 10%, students and teenagers made up 40%.  In the high season, Bat Trang welcomed nearly 10,000 visitors per day.

Bat Trang is one of the most well-known craft villages for domestic and foreign visitors to Hanoi thanks to a variety of lively and sophisticated ceramic earthenware.

The ceramic items from Bat Trang are preferred and exported to France, Japan, South Korea, Russia, Italy, among others.

Besides promoting mass-produced ceramic ware, Bat Trang’s 140 excellent artisans and other craftsmen also restored several ancient ceramic pieces from the ancient time including Ly, Tran, Mac dynasties, among others, as well as successfully revived and created some extraordinary enamel recipes.

Currently, Bat Trang is home to 200 enterprises and 1,000 ceramic producing and trading households which create steady jobs and incomes for thousands of workers.

Total revenue from ceramic manufacture and trade in Bat Trang is estimated at VND2 trillion (US$86.2 million) and per capita income reaches some VND60 million (US$2,600) per year.
