One of the new is a male worker at Samsung Display Vietnam (SDV) Co., Ltd which is located in Hanoi’s neighboring province of Bac Ninh.

On Monday [April 13], a unit of the SDV plant was temporarily shut while 44 people involved were placed in quarantine.

Parent firm Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd confirmed the case, but said Samsung Display’s production lines in Vietnam had not been affected, according to Reuters.

The worker, 26, is a resident of Ha Loi village in Hanoi’s outlying district of Me Linh that is under lockdown after several people were confirmed to be positive with the virus.

So far, 12 villagers have tested positive for the virus. The village’s first infected case is linked to Bach Mai Hospital, one of the hotspots in Vietnam.

Of 265 infected cases so far, 160 are imported, accounting for 60.4%.

As of April 13, as many as 145 have fully recovered while 120 active cases are under treatment at 14 medical facilities nationwide. Eight out of the patients are in critical conditions, including a British man, according to the National Steering Committee for the Covid-19 Prevention and Control.

In the week between April 5 and April 12, the number of infections was 20, compared to 66 of the previous week, according to the Ministry of Health.
