Speaking at the meeting, the governor praised the ambassador’s visit and wished to welcome all foreign countries’ leaders, including those from Vietnam, to introduce the province’s cooperation potentials.

During the visit, the ambassador met Chairman of the provincial council Nakamura Shinichi. The pair asserted that Japan highly evaluated Vietnam’s position and potential in the fields of commerce and investment, health, manpower training, people-to-people exchanges and tourism.

The ambassador affirmed his willingness to act as a bridge and support the locality in intensifying cooperation with Vietnamese localities in such areas. He also had meeting with the Friendship Association with Vietnam and some local enterprises.

Mie prefecture is located on the main Honsu island of Japan with a population of 1.8 million. The gross domestic product (GDP) of the locality is about 71 billion USD a year with its strengths in seafood, industry, environmental technology and tourism.

The Japanese government will provide over 530,000 USD in non-refundable aid to help with transport, education and health care development in southern localities. Documents on the aid were signed by the Japanese Consulate General in the city and representatives from the beneficiary provinces and cities.

The sum will be allocated to the construction of eight rural bridges in Kien Giang province and Dong Nai province, five classrooms in Cu Kuin district of Dak Lak province, and the provision of medical facilities and equipment for Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan and Tay Ninh provinces.
