2018 Bat Xat Autumn Festival opens in Lao Cai province

The festival attracted thousands of local and foreign visitors on the first day.
The 2018 Bat Xat Autumn Festival officially opened in Muong Hum commune, Bat Xat district, Lao Cai province on August 19 and will run until September 1.

Local and foreign visitors have a chance to explore and experience many kinds of activities including a mountain climbing competition entitled “Conquering Lao Than mount” and exploring the Red waterfall in Den Sang commune, Pa Vi ancient stone road in Sang Ma Sao, “Cho phien Y Ty” (Y Ty weekly fair) and terraced rice fields in The Pa Valley in Y Ty commune.
In addition, paragliding performances were launched for the first time in Y Ty commune. The paragliding event attracted 30 athletes who love the sport from the Hanoi Paragliding Club and many provinces and cities throughout the country. The athletes parachuted from the top of Den Thang mountain, flying through the Muong Hum and Sang Ma Sao valleys.
The 2018 Bat Xat Autumn Festival will also host a tour of a silver carving village in Seo Po Ho, Muong Hum commune and an off-road bike racing in Lung Po.
This is the second time Lao Cai province holds the Bat Xat Autumn Festival. The festival aims to promote the distinctive culture of ethnic minority people in Lao Cai and tourist attractions in Bat Xat, a mountainous border district of the province that is blessed with the large area of primitive forest and a rich diversity of flora and fauna.
Bat Xat district is also home to a number of ethnic minority groups, namely Giay, Dao, H’mong and Ha Nhi, who have their own lifestyles, customs and seasonal festivals. Their unique folk songs, dances and games have been preserved for generations and enthralled many tourists when coming here.
