Approved by Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, the license was awarded to the 3,400-MW Thanglong Wind project which is invested by Enterprize Energy Group and its partners namely Société Générale S.A., MHI Vestas Offshore Wind, ODE, and Vietnamese companies like Vietsovpetro, PVC – MS, EVN PECC3, Haduco and Hemera Media.

The investor has conducted survey of an area of 2,800 square kilometers in a year, collecting data on wind speed, migration of seabirds, mammals, and large marine species, geology, and seabed depth.

With this survey, they will continue next steps including reports on planning, environment, and on feasibility study to push the project forward.

Thanglong Wind is the world’s biggest wind power project. It is expected to cover an area of 1,000 square kilometers, about 20-50 km offshore Binh Thuan’s Ke Ga cape which has wind speed of 9.5 meter per second.

The project embraces six phases namely with the first five ones having a capacity of 600MW each, and the sixth with 400MW. The project’s components are scheduled to come operational from late 2022 to 2026.
