Concert “Old is New, New is Old”
“Old is new, new is old” is a combination of contemporary and ancient music of Vietnam created by French composer of Vietnamese origin Nguyen Thien Dao and the music pieces performed by Vietnamese folk musicians.
In this program, Hanoi New Music Ensemble and the music group Dong Kinh Co Nhac will perform the following pieces: Khoi Truong Chi for monochord (2014) by Nguyen Thien Dao; Ancient music – Zen poem – Buddhist music; Khoi Song for 16-string zither (2005) by Nguyen Thien Dao, Nguyet Hao (ancient tuong) ; Ru Ke (ancient cheo) and Buddhist music.

Manzi Art Space presents two documentary films by director Siu Pham – ‘Swallow an Angel’ and ‘Fog over the Summit’.
Fog over the summit… storm over the land
An amusement park blanketed by the fog in a mountain. it doesn’t seems to integrate into the surrounding Asian landscape.
At the foot of the mountain, a farmer is plowing a small piece of land. On the land he works, there is a dilapidated house where a western painter sets up a studio.
Although these two men do not understand each other’s language, a friendship emanated between the farmer and the painter based on the mutual respect and the sharing of an emotional connection to nature.
One day, the farmer told the painter of his father’s death and his sorrow was shared by his father portrait painted by the western artist.
Meanwhile the amusement park in the mountains keeps entertaining the crowd in the fog.
Swallow an Angel
A body and four seasons: Autumn, Winter, Spring and Summer
Suspended in the air, head upside down, seven days for each season, the Butoh dancer realizes her installation.
