Discussion “Young People and the Virtual – Fascination for the Screens”
Your presence matters at the discussion “Young People and the Virtual – Fascination for the Screens” (smartphones, tablets, video games, among others) with the participation of guest speaker Wilfried Gontran. He is a psychoanalyst, psychologist, educator, lecturer in psychology at University of Toulouse-Jean Jaurès (Toulouse, France) and University of Social Siences and Humanities (Hanoi, Vietnam), member of ADEPASE (Association for the Development of Education and Psychology in Southeast Asia).
Technologies (TV, video games, internet, smartphones) have taken an increasingly important place in our daily life. Young people are not an exception, to the point that it is become more and more concerning: should we limit the access of young people (and adults?!) to these technologies? If so, why and how? When can we start talking about technology addiction? To answer these questions, we will try to explain some of the psychological mechanisms at play in the increasingly massive use of technology by young people. And we will try to identify those that are truly dangerous.
Time: Saturday, May 4 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm
Venue: L’Espace, 24 Trang Tien, Hanoi
Performance by Austrian Jazz Duo
Trumpeter Dominik Fuss and Pianist Jörg Leichtfried will come to Vietnam performing concerts at Binh Minh Jazzclub Hà Nội on the 5th of May and at Sax n’ Art Jazzclub in Ho Chi Minh City on the 7th of May. Both concerts will start at 9 p.m.
While performing for the first time in Asia, the duo was already hosted over various places in Europe and just recently played at the festival jazz à Catharge in Tunisia, North Africa.
Their main focus lies on exploring the borders between jazz tradition, classical and modern music – just like two playing cards leaning against each other to create a stable rhythmic and interactive construct.
On this concert tour, which leads then on to Malaysia, these borders will open up even more, as Vietnamese artists will be invited on stage to jam and improvise together with the two renowned artists.
With fuss’ strong sense of melody and Leichtfried’s tasteful harmonic support the concerts are expected to take the audience on a journey covering many originals as well as jazz standards.
Time: Sunday May 5 at 9:00 pm
Venue: Binh Minh Jazz Club, No.1 Trang Tien, Phan Chu Trinh, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi
Workshop on Sound in Documentary Filmmaking with Arnaud Soulier
Documentary filmmakers often encounter difficulty in recording audio for their works. This then continued to cause problems in the film’s sound production.
The main reason is insufficient material collecting during filming. Also because usually directors film the documentary themselves or with a very small film crew. In addition, documentary pressured the filmmakers to react quickly to the current situation. Albeit the many efforts in preparation, with documentary, unlike feature films, unexpected situations must be taken into account.
This workshop organized by DocLab with the guidance of French sound engineer Arnaud Soulier, propose a simple, educational and practical approach, along with specific recording techniques for documentary. Problems with sound can be minimized during a documentary production. Thus, they will discuss different recording techniques, how to solve some common problems (through specific practices and examples), how to manage audio materials in the stage of image rendering. And finally, how sound works in the final stages of making and mixing sound.
Time: Sunday, May 5 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Venue: DOCLAB, No. 11, Alley 12, Lane 378 Thuy Khue, Hanoi
