After ten-year implemenation of the National Nutrition Strategy, Viet Nam has gained encouraging achievements in lowering malnutrition among children under five.
The Hanoitimes - After ten-year implemenation of the National Nutrition Strategy, Viet Nam has gained encouraging achievements in lowering malnutrition among children under five.

However, Viet Nam is still one of 16 countries with highest stunting rate on the globe, according to the World Health Organization.

The problem can be traced back to limited obervation of nutrition policies, evaluation of the efficiency of anti-nutrition projects, modest resources and facilities for nutrition programs, especially in rural and remote areas.

In a bid to bring the stunting rate among children under three down to 26% by 2015 and 23% by 2020, the Institute for Family and Gender Studies called for improving the awareness of the proper time for complementary feeding, proportion, selection of safe products.

The State needs to promulgate policies that ensure mothers’ access to full and convenient nutrition information and to safe nutritious products.
