VAA Chairman Nguyen Tan Van said that the 5th competition appreciates buildings which use smart materials, bear Vietnamese cultural characteristics, and bring better living standards for the communities, particularly in disadvantaged areas.

The entries will be judged over five criteria, including sustainable location, efficient use of resources and energy, environmental quality, typical cultural characteristics, and sustainable social and humanitarian impact, Van stressed.

He stressed that eligible entries consist of approved projects on green solutions and architectural constructions as well as urban and rural complexes already in existence or recently inaugurated. Those designed by Vietnamese architects can be located in Vietnam or overseas, while those by foreign ones must be in Vietnam.

According to the organizing committee, submissions should be sent to the VAA’s headquarters at No. 40 Tang Bat Ho street in Hanoi, with the deadline set for December 29.

The awarding ceremony will take place in late April 2020. There will be a golden prize worth VND50 million (US$2,150).
