Vietnam’s 3 largest cities to host European Literature Days 2019
Readers can join over 50 activities which include book presentations, readings, workshops, exhibitions, films, among others.
The ninth European Literature Days will take place in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and in Danang for the first time next month from May 2 to 25, according to the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC).
The opening ceremony will be held on May 2 at the exhibition hall in L’Espace, Trang Tien street, Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi, with the participation of authors and representatives from participating European embassies and cultural institutes.
In Hanoi, all events will take place at Casa Italia, Goethe-Institut, L’Espace, Hanoi University and Bluebirds’nest Café, while audiences in in HCM City can join at the British Council, IDECAF, USSH University, Café Salon Saturday and in the Book Street. In Da Nang, the events will be held at the Danang General Science Library and the French Institute.
Readers can join over 50 activities which include book presentations, readings, workshops, exhibitions, films, “European Characters” drawing contest and a week of big discounts on European books in shops on the Book Street in HCM City.
This year, audiences will be able to browse books in conference rooms, exhibitions, and in book streets, and there will be activities to satisfy all book lovers, from children to adults. There will also be a chance to meet authors, listen to talks and readings or participate in interactive activities.
Different groups of readers, from kids to adults, and with a variety of reading tastes, will all be able to find novels that match their interests and delight their imaginations as they explore literature and social science books from ten European countries namely the UK, Czechia, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Belgium’s Wallonie-Bruxelles.
This annual festival has been organized in Hanoi since 2011 by EUNIC, with support from the EU Delegation.
