Vietnamese traditional opera drums beat in Paris

Vietnam’s Cheo (traditional opera) plays were staged in Paris, France, on September 11, as part of activities marking the 70th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day.
The old-age art form, performed by artists from Hanoi, impressed French audience as well as the Vietnamese community in France.
Present at the event, Irina Bokova, UNESCO General Director, congratulated Vietnam on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2).
She applauded the country’s contributions to the international community and UNESCO in particular, especially in the field of culture.
The UNESCO leader also voiced her belief that Vietnam will continue preserving and promoting its traditional art forms as part of efforts to enrich the treasure of cultural heritage shared by human.
Vietnamese Ambassador to France Nguyen Ngoc Son highlighted great contributions of the Vietnamese community in France and French friends to the homeland’s defence and construction.
The art programme welcomed the audience of over 1,000, including guests who are UNESCO leaders, French Foreign Ministry officials and diplomatic corps in Paris.
