The opera Nguoi Tac Tuong (The Sculptor) by the late composer Do Nhuan and Tchaikovsky's classical ballet “Swan Lake” will be represented by hundreds of artists.

This is the first interpretation of The Sculptor since its first performance on September 2, 1971.

Do Hong Quan, son of the late composer, will be the conductor and music director while other renowned Vietnamese actors and actresses will join the performance.

The opera focuses on the love and loyalty during the wartime as well as the adoration for the motherland instead of emphasizing on the loss and brutality of wars.

While the Swan Lake, in its Vietnamese adaptation, will preserve the Russian traits but still blended with Vietnamese features.

Tran Ly Ly, acting director of VNOB, said that the restaging Swan Lake is a bold decision because it requires lots of time, efforts and high concentration of the whole casts, including the orchestra and over 60 dancers. They have been spending six months rehearsing the masterpiece.

VNOB, a unit of the Ministry of Culture, Sport, and Tourism, was found in 1959 and has gained several achievements on both international and domestic stages.
