The Vietnamese Embassy displayed pictures highlighting collaboration with Germany in recent years and entertained foreign friends with folk music. This is the fourth consecutive time that Vietnam has engaged in the event held by Germany's Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development.

Chargé d'Affaires of the embassy Nguyen Viet Cuong said Vietnam’s presence at the event celebrates five years of the bilateral strategic partnership between Germany and Vietnam and their wide-ranging cooperation. Germany is one of the biggest official development assistance suppliers for Vietnam. Since 1990, Germany has pledged 1.8 billion EUR (2.01 billion USD) in ODA for the Southeast Asian nation.

It has helped Vietnam gain sustainable economic development and increase national competitiveness in industry. The two sides have also collaborated in vocational training, environmental protection and efficient use of energy and renewable energy development.

The Open Day in Berlin allowed participants to study cooperation development projects between Germany and 62 partner countries across the world, from Africa, Asia to Latin America. This year’s event focused on sustainable development goals approved by the UN in its Agenda 2030.

Vietnam is looking for stronger cooperation with Germany across trade, environmental technology, ecology, processing technology and human resources training, said Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany Doan Xuan Hung.

The Vietnam-Germany Strategic Partnership has developed fruitfully in recent time, he, adding that former President Truong Tan Sang’s visit to Germany last year opened great cooperation opportunities for the two countries’ enterprises.

Thuringia State Governor Bodo Ramelow suggested mutual cooperation in renewable energy, glass manufacturing technology, vocational training, and nursing, as well as the production of goods to be exported to a third country. The legislator valued the Vietnamese community in the state, saying they demonstrate a successful integration example in Germany.

Vietnamese Embassy in Germany is praised for arranging the two workshops, which focused on potential, opportunities, prospects and measures to step up economic and trade links between Vietnam and Germany. Participants to the event suggested promoting the role of the embassy’s division for economic affairs in boosting connection between German firms and their Vietnamese counterparts.

They also hoped that the community of Vietnamese businesses in Germany will serve as a bridge promoting the bilateral relations and economic links in particular through directly investing in Vietnam or supporting and providing legal advice for German companies to trade in Vietnam.

The organisation of the workshops is hoped to open new prospects for win-win cooperation between the two countries in the future, practically contributing to deepening the Vietnam-Germany Strategic Partnership.
