Vietnamese artists win prizes at New Zealand photo competition

Three Vietnamese artists have won prizes in several photo categories at the first ROYGBIV International Color Awards, which is held by the TZ International Photography and Art Community, New Zealand.
In the People and Animals category, graphic designer Pham Van Ty took the gold award with his photo “Sewing the fishing net” and young photographer Nguyen Hiep with “Wonder garden” secured the bronze.
Meanwhile, Viet Van’s “Yellow Umbrella”, which was taken at the KomPong Chray temple in the Mekong Delta province of Tra Vinh provine, came third in the Open category.
The photo depicts two monks, one leaning against the wall reading a book while the other walks pass him in the opposite direction with a yellow umbrella held high. The artwork previously won a bronze medal at the Ozone Zone International Photo Competition in Canada and a Honourable Mention at the International Photography Awards in the US.
Viet Van also had five other photos reaching the finals of the Open and the People and Animals categories.
All prize winners and their works will be featured on the 43mm magazine published by the TZ International Photography and Art Community.
