Vietnamese and Indian filmmakers boost cooperation

In the framework of the Indian film festival in Vietnam last week, the conference held in Hanoi on December 19 between Indian filmmakers and Vietnam Cinema Department discussed opportunities to promote the country`s tourism through the cinema industry.
Vietnam has been welcoming foreign filmmakers to the country to promote tourism sector.
Vietnam National Administration of Tourism has collaborated with Vietnam Cinema Department to facilitate foreign filmmakers in shooting Vietnam's beatiful landscapes such as Hanoi, Halong, Ninh Binh, Sapa, Ha Giang, Da Nang, Hoi An.
Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Preeti Saran said that Vietnam is a potential market for India to cooperate closely in cinema industry.
Ambassador Saran said Spanish tourism increased by 32% since an Indian Bollywood movie was filmed in Spain in 2011. Earlier, the Indian cinema industry caused similar increases in Indian tourism in Switzerland and the UK.
At the conference, an Indian director admitted the practical cooperation in filmmaking in many countries shows that tourists are always interested in locations for filming.
The Indian Ambassador said the number of Indian visitors choosing locations cooperated with the country in cinema increased ramarkablely.
A lot of Indian director also expressed their wishes to visit Vietnam's sceneries to form ​​filmmaking ideas.

Indian director Raleysh Om Prakash Mehra suggested that Vietnamese filmmakers should come to India to understand the country's filmmaking, thus make good ideas for bilateral close cooperation.
Director of Vietnam Cinema Department Ngo Phuong Lan said Vietnam has up to 384 film production companies to work with Indian filmmakers.
Umesh Shukla filmmaker also hoped to be provided views of Vietnamese landscape videos, which those in the film industry check before choosing final locations for filming.
Deputy Director of General Department of Tourism Ha Van Sieu confirmed that his department will actively support foreign filmmakers to Vietnam, strengthening cooperation and opening an opportunity to promote the country's image.
