Vietnam won four golds at Asian Physics Olympiad
The Vietnamese eight-member team came third with four gold, two silver and two bronze medals.
This is the best result for a Vietnamese team in the history of the Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO).
The contest, lasting from May 6 to May 12 this year, is the second to be held in Vietnam with the participation of 185 candidates, 48 team leaders and 29 observers from 25 countries and territories.

Of 33 gold medals, four was claimed by Vietnamese students, including Tran Duc Huy from Hanoi-Amsterdam High School in Hanoi, Nguyen Ngọc Long from Lam Sơn High School of central Thanh Hoa Province, Nguyen Van Thanh Loi from Quang Trung High School of southern Binh Phuoc Province, and Trinh Duy Hieu from Bac Giang High School of northern Bac Giang Province.
The rest medalists of Vietnam are from Hanoi, Thanh Hoa and northern Quang Ninh Province. Huy was awarded the title of "Host contestant with the highest results" in addition to his gold medal.
The Asian Physics Olympiad is an annual competition for high school students under the age of 20 from the Asia and Oceania regions. Vietnam has been participating in the competition annually since its initiation in 2000.
Last year, Vietnam only won one gold medal, three silver medals and three honorable mentions.
During the competition, participants also took part in cultural exchange activities, visited the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology in Hanoi and the Trang An Landscape Complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the northern province of Ninh Binh.
