Vietnam wins a gold medal at Int’l Maths Olympiad

Vietnamese students bagged four gold, one silver and one bronze medals at the 58th International Mathematics Olympiad in Brazil in 2017.
All six Vietnamese students taking part in the 59th International Mathematical Olympiad in Romania won medals including one gold medal, two silver medals and three bronze medals.

According to the official website of the International Mathematical Olympiad, the gold medal was won by Nguyen Quang Bin, a 12th grade student of the Hanoi National University’s High School for Gifted Students.

Two silver medalists were Pham Minh Duc, an 11th grade student from Hanoi-Amsterdam High School, and Trinh Van Hoan, a 12th grader of Tran Phu High School for Gifted Students in the northern city of Hai Phong.

The three bronze medals were secured by Tran Viet Hoang, also from Tran Phu High School for Gifted Students of Hai Phong, Truong Manh Tuan from the Hanoi National University’s High School for Gifted Students, and Do Hoang Viet from Nguyen Quang Dieu High School for Gifted Students in the southern province of Dong Thap. All are 12th grade students.

Last year, the Vietnamese team bagged four gold, one silver and one bronze medals at the 58th International Mathematics Olympiad in Brazil, ranking third in the medal table.
