Vietnam to resume international routes depending on Covid-19 evolution
Nhat Minh - Minh Tuan 14:25, 2020/05/15
The country expects the international community to keep collaborating with Vietnam in implementing anti-pandemic measures on arrival.

Vietnam will closely monitor the Covid-19 pandemic situation in the country and around the world to make adjustments to entry and exit procedures in accordance with actual conditions, said Spokesperson of Vietnam Foreign Ministry Le Thi Thu Hang on May 14.

At a dialogue between Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and the business community on May 9, a representative from the Korean Chamber of Business (KoCham) in Vietnam asked the Vietnamese government to allow reopening of air travel between Vietnam and those countries which have basically managed to control the disease, so that foreign experts and investors could come to Vietnam and work in a new normalcy.

On the possibility of resuming air travel services, Vietnam's foreign ministry spokesperson said the Vietnamese government, like others in the world, has put in place several adjustments to immigration procedures to prevent the spread of the disease.

“Vietnam appreciates the understanding and looks forward to working closely with the international community in keeping implementing these adjustments,” Hang said.

After the pandemic outbreak in China, Vietnam has suspended international flights between the country and mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Since mid-March, the country has halted issuing visas and international flights to Vietnam. These measures have helped the country contain the disease. However, a number of foreigners are still allowed such as diplomatic passport bearers, foreign experts and business executives.
