The Ho Chi Minh City-based Nhan dan (People) 115 Hospital has successfully performed first-ever robotically-assisted brain tumor surgery in Vietnam, said Director of the hospital Phan Van Bau on February 17.
The operation was performed under the supervision of Professor Amin Kassam, vice president of the US’s Aurora Health Care.
The surgery was conducted on a female patient, aged 67, living in the southern Tay Ninh province.
The female patient was admitted to the hospital due to headache, dysarthria and right limb weakness. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) results show that she had a small tumor in the left cerebral hemisphere.
