Following the decision of the Party, government authorities will implement administrative disciplines against the former information minister in line with Party disciplines.

The Committee decided to remove Son from the position of member of the 11th tenure of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Party Committee of the ministry for the 2011 - 2016 tenure.

Following the decision of the Party, government authorities will implement administrative disciplines against Son in line with Party disciplines.

On July 12, the Politburo - the highest body of the Communist Party of Vietnam - issued disciplinary warning against Son and other high-ranking officials.

Son is held responsible for Mobifone's controversial acquisition of 95% stake in TV pay service provider Audio Visual Global (AVG) in a deal worth VND8.9 trillion (US$392 million) in December 2015.

The Politburo stated the deal "caused huge losses to the state budget and negative impacts on the operation and equitization process of Mobifone, affecting the credibility of the MIC's Party Committee and raising concern among the public."

The Central Committee also decided to strip off the Party membership of Tran Van Minh, former chairman of Da Nang city 's municipal People's Committee (2011 - 2014).

According to the Committee, Minh violated regulations on anti-corruption and waste prevention, as well as on land and public asset management, causing great losses to the state budget.

Minh was arrested in April for selling state properties to Phan Van Anh Vu, also known as Vu "nhom", at below market prices.

Vu, a property magnate in Da Nang, was sentenced to nine years in prison after being accused of deliberately revealing state secrets on July 30.
