Con Son-Kiep Bac festival promotes Hai Duong culture

An event to promote the culture and tourism of the northern province of Hai Duong was held at the Con Son-Kiep Bac Relic Site from September 18 to 22. Recognized as a national relic in 1962 and a special national relic in 2012, the relic is closely associated with national hero Tran Quoc Tuan (1228-1300) and world great man of culture Nguyen Trai (1380-1442), reflecting Vietnam's historical, cultural, and religious values.

UN Special Rapporteur praises Vietnam's progress

Surya Deva, United Nations Special Rapporteur on the right to development, on September 18 highly praised Vietnam's progress in economic development and implementation of social security programs. Speaking at a meeting of the UN Human Rights Council in Switzerland, he affirmed that the Southeast Asian country had achieved several important goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, such as poverty reduction, access to clean water, resilient infrastructure development, and innovation.

Vietnam highlighted in global value chain

Vietnam has positioned itself as a key factor in the global value chain, influencing regional and global economic dynamics, according to Red Lantern Analytica, an Indian international affairs watch group. As a key player in many global value chains, particularly in manufacturing and export-oriented industries such as garments, electronics, and engineering, Vietnam is a major competitor due to its cost advantage, strategic location, and improved infrastructure.

National Martial Arts Championship 2024 opens with record participation

As many as 650 martial artists from 32 provinces will participate in the 33rd National Traditional Martial Arts Championship 2024, which opened in the central highland province of Gia Lai on September 17, marking a record number of participants. The tournament features new rules, expanded age categories (17-60) and weight classes to preserve and promote Vietnamese martial arts.

Vietnam revives heritage with 3D technology

Vietnam is using advanced 3D technology to preserve its cultural heritage. RMIT Vietnam and Adobe recently trained 35 museum and archive staff on the benefits of 3D digitization. The initiative aims to preserve the country's cultural heritage and make it more accessible to the public, especially younger generations, by combining tradition with modern technology.

Vietnamese athlete wins gold medal at Asian Wushu Championship

Vietnamese wushu athlete Dinh Van Tam won the gold medal in the 52kg sanda category at the 2024 Asian Wushu Championship held in Macau from September 12-15. Tam's victory brings pride to Quang Ngai Province and Vietnam, as he is one of three Vietnamese athletes to win a gold medal at the championship.

Vietnam and Japan strengthen football ties

Vietnam and Japan are expanding their football cooperation, focusing on women's football, youth development, futsal and referee training. The agreement between the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and the Japan Football Association (JFA) also aims to strengthen ties between the V.League and J.League and create opportunities for player exchanges.

Vietnam climbs 15 places in UN's EGDI

Vietnam has moved up 15 places to rank 71st among 193 countries in the 2024 edition of the United Nations (UN) E-Government Development Index (EGDI), the Ministry of Information and Communication announced on September 18.

With a score of 0.7709 in the EGDI, Vietnam is listed in the very high EGDI group. This reflects the country's success in strengthening digital infrastructure, expanding internet connectivity, and implementing robust digital government frameworks, the UN said.

Vietnam joins the Top Resa International & French Travel Market 2024

Vietnam is attending the Top Resa International & French Travel Market 2024, a major event for the travel and tourism industry, which opened in Paris on September 17.

The Vietnamese pavilion highlighted the country's attractive destinations and a wide range of unique products. Decorated in a traditional style with art performances by Vietnamese artists, the pavilion made a strong impression on French visitors and international tourists.
