Ho Chi Minh City hosts the 2nd River Festival

The second River Festival, themed "Legendary Journey", will run for ten days from May 31 to June 9, showcasing the distinctive tourism products of the city and the southwest region. The city plans to launch a ground fireworks display at the opening ceremony on May 31 at Nha Rong Warf. Visitors will experience various spaces such as the "floating market of the Mekong Delta" at the Nhieu Loc - Thi Nghe Canal area, a fruit week at Binh Dong Wharf in District 8, as well as art performances and more.

Tax authorities propose ban on cash transactions in gold trading

Tax authorities have requested the State Bank of Vietnam to consider issuing regulations requiring non-cash payments for gold transactions.

Vietnam is one of the leading countries in Southeast Asia in terms of gold consumption, with around 55.5 tons in 2023, according to a report by the World Gold Council. However, transactions in gold and silver are often small-scale, with no record keeping, and there is a large price differential between the domestic and global markets.

Electronic toll collection to start at five major airports on May 5

Starting May 5, the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) will simultaneously implement electronic toll collection at five major airports, including Noi Bai, Cat Bi, Phu Bai, Da Nang, and Tan Son Nhat. The installation of the technical equipment for the system has been largely completed. The move aims to provide greater convenience for vehicle access to airports

Vietnam Dairy 2024 will take place from May 30 to June 2 in Ho Chi Minh City, with nearly 200 booths of brands and products from various countries and regions around the world. The event is expected to be an effective venue for domestic and international businesses to meet, seek partners, and expand their markets.

Vietnamese teams achieve high rankings in information security contest

Teams from Vietnamese universities participating in the 2024 HackTheon Sejong International University Students Cyber Security Competition have achieved high rankings, the Authority of Information Security under the Ministry of Information and Communications announced on May 3. The competition is open to university students from South Korea and abroad and is conducted online and offline. The final round will be held in person on June 19 at the Sejong Convention Center, South Korea.

Viettel to showcase defence industry products in Malaysia

Viettel, representing Vietnam, will showcase defense industry products at the 2024 Defense Service Asia Exhibition and Conference (DSA 2024) and National Security Asia 2024 (NATSEC) in Malaysia on May 6-9. The event attracts more than 1,200 companies from 60 countries.
