Vietnamese products showcased in Stockholm, Sweden

The Vietnamese Embassy in Sweden today (June 16) joined an international trade and cuisine fair organized by the ASEAN Committee in Stockholm. Hundreds of Vietnamese handicrafts and food products are on display, making a good impression on both local and international visitors.

Through the fair, the embassy hopes to boost Vietnam-Sweden relations and promote Vietnam's outstanding values and beauties to the world.

Vietnamese peacekeepers give gifts to South Sudanese children

Vietnamese peacekeepers have given nearly 2,000 learning kits and toys to students at Hope Secondary School and Unification Primary School in Juba, South Sudan.

The activity aims to commemorate the International Day of the African Child (June 16), which honors those who died in 1976 fighting for better education.

Vietnamese students seeking study opportunities in Malaysia quadruple

The Consulate General of Malaysia in Ho Chi Minh City reported on June 15 that about 740 Vietnamese students applied for long-term academic programs in Malaysia in 2023, an increase of 300% from the previous year. In January-May 2024, the number of applications was 225. In August 2023, Malaysian authorities estimated that more than 1,000 Vietnamese students were studying in the country. It can cost a foreign student about US$13,000 per year to live and study in Malaysia.

Capital to launch new applications on administrative profiles, health check

Hanoi plans to launch four digital applications on June 28 as part of the capital's efforts to fulfill the Government's Project 06 on National Digital Transformation. The four apps aim to make it easier for people to fill out their administrative profiles, import health statistics, and better connect with government agencies.

Construction Ministry to release new standards for rental housing in July

The Ministry of Construction will release a set of standards for private houses and apartment buildings with less than seven floors in July, according to Deputy Minister Bui Xuan Dung. The policy is expected to improve fire safety and prevent catastrophic fires.

Vietnam eyes 10 new submarine fiber optic lines by 2030

Under the master plan to develop fiber-optic Internet by 2035, Vietnam aims to lay 10 new submarine fiber-optic lines by 2030, bringing the total to at least 15 with a minimum capacity of 350 terabytes per second. Of the total 15 fiber optic lines, Vietnam expects to lay two of its own to terminals in the region.

Ministry of Industry and Trade to issue new rules on GHG emission cut in Q3

In Q3/2024, the Ministry of Industry and Trade is scheduled to finalize and issue a plan to curb greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for its subordinate units and facilitate the growth of the carbon credit market.

The move is part of Vietnam's efforts to meet its National Determined Contributions (NDC) commitments to reduce its carbon emissions and achieve net zero emissions by 2050.
