Vietnam Festival in Sapporo 2024 inaugurated
The third Vietnam Festival in Sapporo, a cultural exchange between Vietnam and Japan, opened on August 10 in Sapporo City, Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan.
More than 43,000 Vietnamese students are studying in Japan, which is an important force for the socio-economic development of both countries.

Vietnam attends 16th ASEAN Health Ministers Meeting

Textile and garment export turnover to exceed US$4 billion for 1st time in 2024
Vietnam earned US$4.29 billion from textile and garment exports in July, up 12.4% year-on-year. This is the first month in 2024 that the sector's exports have exceeded the US$4 billion mark, the highest figure since August 2022.
In the first seven months, export revenue from the garment and textile sector increased by 5.9% year-on-year to US$23.9 billion. Vietnam exports textile and garment products to 113 countries and territories, including the US, EU, Japan, South Korea, and China.
Perseid meteor shower visible in Vietnam on August 12 night
Sky watchers in Vietnam have a chance to see the Perseid meteor shower on the night of August 12 and early morning of August 13, according to the Vietnam Astronomy and Cosmology Association.
In 2024, the Perseid shower is active between July 17 and August 24, with an increase in meteors each night until it peaks in mid-August. This year, the peak falls on the night of August 12 and before dawn on August 13. People in Vietnam can observe the shower after midnight, the most ideal time being after 2:00 am on August 13.
Hanoi hosts National Circus Talent Competition 2024
The National Circus Talent Competition 2024 is underway at the Central Circus in Hanoi, with nearly 100 artists participating. The five-day event, which ends on August 13, aims to honor and promote the art of circus and provide a platform for artists to showcase and exchange creative ideas. The competition includes 20 acts, such as acrobatics, juggling, and magic, performed over two rounds.
New library built for Quang Binh's ethnic minority children
The "Flood-Proof Library" in Trung Son Village, Truong Son Commune, Quang Ninh District, Quang Binh Province, supports the Bru-Van Kieu community with more than 3,000 books, 500 audiobooks, and scholarships for disadvantaged students. Located in a region prone to flooding and landslides, the library aims to promote reading and provide essential learning resources to children who face significant barriers due to inadequate infrastructure and recurring natural disasters.
Yen Bai sees 26.6% tourist growth by July
The northern province of Yen Bai welcomed over 1.4 million tourists from January to July, marking a 26.6% annual increase. Tourism revenue reached nearly VND1.2 trillion (US$50 million), achieving almost 80% of the annual target. This growth is attributed to enhanced promotion and the “Green Tourism with Yen Bai” initiative, which has made the region more attractive. Yen Bai aims to welcome 1.7 million visitors in 2024, including 300,000 international tourists.
