Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed on September 9 concrete measures to strengthen bilateral trade and economic ties between Vietnam and Mozambique.

Regarding trade, Prime Minister Chinh urged both governments to promote the exchange of goods from one side that are needed by the other in order to increase bilateral trade turnover.
He proposed increasing trade in Vietnam's farm produce, fertilizers, machinery, textiles, and footwear, as well as Mozambique's coal, cashew nuts, and timber.
Prime Minister Chinh also appreciated Mozambique's support for the operation of Moviel, a telecommunications joint venture between the military-owned telecommunications group Viettel and its Mozambican partner, and suggested that Mozambique continue to facilitate its expansion.
He expected the joint venture to contribute even more effectively to Mozambique's socio-economic development.
The Prime Minister also thanked the Mozambican government for its support to the Vietnamese community in Mozambique.
He called for continued efforts to boost people-to-people exchanges and support Vietnamese businesses investing and operating in the country.
The Mozambican guest agreed with Prime Minister Chinh's recommendations and affirmed that his government would work closely with Vietnamese ministries, agencies, and partners to improve the effectiveness of economic, trade, and investment cooperation between the two countries.
He also emphasized expanding collaboration in areas such as education, healthcare, digital transformation, and manufacturing.
The Mozambican President underlined the importance of cooperation in agriculture and fisheries, expecting that Vietnam will continue to help Mozambique find suitable partners for new trilateral cooperation projects.

He also asked for Vietnam's assistance in building Mozambique's capacity for seafood processing and developing sustainable and efficient aquaculture projects.
The African leader also praised Movitel's significant contributions to Mozambique's digital transformation and hailed the joint venture as a symbol of the successful economic partnership between the two nations.
During their talks, the two leaders discussed and agreed on further measures to promote bilateral cooperation.
Prime Minister Chinh and his Mozambican counterpart agreed to continue exchanging delegations at all levels in order to strengthen political trust and give new impetus to bilateral cooperation.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Chinh extended an invitation to Mozambican Prime Minister Adriano Maleiane to visit Vietnam at a time convenient to him, as the two countries will celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2025.
The two leaders expressed satisfaction with the positive development of economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam and Mozambique, noting that bilateral trade turnover has tripled in one year to reach US$550 million in 2023.
They agreed to continue to support each other in multilateral fora and international organizations, particularly the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement, and their regional organizations, such as ASEAN and the African Union (AU).
In the midst of rapidly changing and complex global and regional situations, both sides agreed to cooperate closely and support each other in international and regional platforms of mutual interest.

They shared a common vision to ensure safety, security, and freedom of sea and air navigation in the South China Sea (East Sea), to maintain peace, stability, and legal order, and to settle maritime disputes by peaceful means in accordance with international law, in particular the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982).
At the meeting, Prime Minister Chinh congratulated President Filipe on his successful talks with General Secretary and President of Vietnam To Lam, which he said contributed to strengthening political trust and advancing the traditional friendship between the two nations.
Prime Minister Chinh also thanked President Filipe for once again expressing the condolences of the Vietnamese people on the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, who worked hard during his lifetime to foster relations between the two countries.
President Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, on his return visit to Vietnam, thanked the Vietnamese leaders and people for their warm and cordial hospitality. He congratulated Vietnam for its remarkable achievements in political and social stability, economic growth, and rising international status.
The President emphasized Mozambique's determination to strengthen and expand cooperation with Vietnam in all fields.
