The Central Economic Commission will continue promoting research on socio-economic strategies for the entire tenure of the upcoming 13th National Party Congress, Mr. Nguyen Van Binh, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission has said.
Speaking at a conference to review the committee’s performance in 2020 and set tasks for 2021 in Hanoi on January 5, Mr, Binh said the commission will focus efforts on the formulation of projects and resolutions with high quality and strategic vision assigned by the Party’s Central Committee, the Secretariat and the Politburo.
"The commission needs to take stock of the Party Central Committee's implementation of resolutions on important issues for the socio-economic development, further improve the quality of project appraisal before submitting them to the Politburo and the Secretariat, and foster investigations to make better macroeconomic forecasts," Mr. Binh said.
Over the past five years, the Central Economic Committee has performed comprehensively all assigned functions and tasks. Particularly, in 2020, the committee staff actively coordinated with relevant agencies and localities to research and develop seven important projects to submit to the Politburo.
At the same time, the committee also growth scenarios, proposing solutions and policies to remove difficulties as well as stabilizing the socio-economic situation, restoring and promoting economic growth in the new normal.
The committee also in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development organized in-depth seminars on digital transformation in circular agricultural development as well as developing start-up ecosystems for boosting up the agricultural tourism.
“This is a transition from agricultural production thinking towards agricultural economics, creating added value for the sector, generating more job opportunities in rural areas and attracting young intellectuals into agriculture,” said Mr. Le Minh Hoan, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development at the conference.
