Vietnam Book Day to be held in Hanoi
The fourth Vietnam Book Day program will take place at Thong Nhat Park (Hai Ba Trung District) from April 6-10, opening a series of activities across the country in response to Vietnam Book Day.
Under the framework of the program, around 20 events on books and reading culture will be held, including forums and exchanges on books with the participation of numerous cultural researchers and managers, and programmes introducing new book titles and their author, book streets, contests as well as reading skills in modern life to readers.
In particular, activities related to purchasing and exchanging copyright, as well as co-operation on publishing, are expected to attract writers and book publication and distribution units. The booths will also hold interesting activities such as contests, lot drawing games. Discounts and other activities in tribute to readers will be offered.
The annual event aims to respond to the Prime Minister’s decision on selecting April 21 as Vietnam Book Day which aims to honor the values of books, readers and people participating in collecting, writing, publishing and distributing books as well as affirming the cultural significance and necessity of books for the spiritual life of all communities. The event also contributes to promoting the position and role of publishing activities in social life.
