At a meeting with APO Secretary-General Indra Pradana Singawinata, Prime Minister Chinh urged the APO to consider Vietnam as a model for productivity improvement.

The PM also proposed the APO support Vietnam to perfect its regulatory framework, human resources development, and administrative sciences and enhance international collaboration on productivity.

PM Chinh also spoke highly of the APO Secretary-General's visit to Vietnam, his first destination after taking office.

“That proves the strong strategic partnership between Vietnam and the APO,” he said.

PM Chinh also thanked the APO for the organization’s efforts to help Vietnam develop a comprehensive innovation-driven productivity plan in 2019.

The Vietnamese Government leader also appreciated the APO for assisting the nation in joining professional communities on strategic research activities of the APO and several key projects, as well as the development of capable productivity experts.

PM Chinh cited that the Vietnamese Government has taken measures and initiatives to raise working productivity as the nation's eyes to lifting average productivity growth to over 6.5% per annum in 2021-2030.

The PM suggested the APO facilitate activities to provide resources, especially experts, to help Vietnam initiate the labor productivity improvement project in combination with science, technology, and innovation.

The APO was also recommended to support Vietnam in developing projects and training activities that align with APO and international standards.

PM Chinh also requested the APO to increase the number of active experts in Vietnam and support the nation in organizing the National Productivity Forum in October 2023.

He hoped that the APO would expand its influence and contribute to Asia-Pacific's sustainable development through productivity improvement.

In his part, APO general secretary Indra affirmed that Vietnam holds an important position in the APO.

He added that the nation is capable of increasing productivity as its people are hardworking and committed to achieving the set goals of becoming a developed, high-income country by 2045.

Indra said that Vietnam is a stable country regarding politics, economics, and society.

The general secretary affirmed that he is willing to assist Vietnam in raising its institutional building capacity, developing plans and monitoring the implementation process, and pooling the involvement of departments and agencies in labor productivity improvement.
