Vietnam and South Korea promote cooperation in healthcare
Vietnam and South Korea have had cooperation between their hospitals and medical schools for many years.
Vietnamese Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien and Korean Minister of Health and Welfare Park Neung-hoo held talks and signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote bilateral healthcare cooperation in Seoul on March 14, Vietnam News Agency reported.
Vietnam and South Korea have had cooperation between their hospitals and medical schools for many years and the new MoU is based on the two previous ones but some contents will be added to be suitable with the present situation, said Vietnam’s Health Minister Kim Tien.
Vietnam’s health ministry wants to cooperate with the Korean side in training and issuing healthcare professional certificates, building a financial mechanism for the health sector (including health insurance) and improving people's health.
For his part, Minister Park Neunghoo said that each other’s recognition of professional certificate should be carefully considered although the two countries’ training curricula are different.
Park Neunghoo said South Korea is willing to share information with Vietnam on health insurance and public health service improvement. He suggested that the two sides could collaborate in producing medicine.
Earlier, Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien and her delegation attended the opening of the 10th Global Healthcare and Medical Tourism Conference (Medical Korea 2019), which takes place annually to promote information exchange in the global health market and expand medical networks at home and abroad.
