Vietnam airlines to relaunch int'l flights from September 18

Vietnam’s airlines resume international flights today after months of the suspension to avoid Covid-19 spread.

Vietjet Air will resume regular flights to Japan, South Korea and Taiwan (China)  from September 29 with the frequency of one service per week for the routes of Ho Chi Minh City - Tokyo (Narita, Japan), Ho Chi Minh City - Seoul (Incheon, South Korea), Hanoi - Taipei (Taoyuan, Taiwan).

Air passengers before boarding are required to have certificate of their negative status for Covid-19 issued within three days before the departure and comply with the safety screening measures of the host country.

From September 18, Vietnam Airlines will relaunch its first regular international flights in months by conducting one-way flights from Vietnam to Japan. 

Flights from Hanoi to Narita Airport (Tokyo) depart at 11:45am on September 18, September 25, and September 30; from Ho Chi Minh City to Narita, at 0:00 on September 30 are by Boeing 787 wide-body aircraft. 

Air service to South Korea has also been resumed with one flight per week to Seoul. 

So far, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has only authorized air carriers to fly passengers out of the country. All returning flights will be empty with only cargo.

For routes to Taiwan and Guangzhou (China), Vietnam Airlines is waiting for instructions from the airline authorities to make specific flight plans.

Earlier, local authorities decided to reopen four international routes to/from Tokyo (Japan), Seoul (South Korea), Guangzhou (China) and Taipei (Taiwan, China), from September 15 and from September 22, flights to Phnom Penh (Cambodia) and Vientiane (Laos) will resume with a maximum frequency of two flights per week for Vietnamese airlines and their partners per route.

The air carriers are requested to sells tickets only to people bearing entry visa and accommodation booking in Vietnam. Airlines are tasked with checking passengers’ certificate of negative status for SARS-CoV-2 issued by the competent authority of the host country.

The airline must send to the airport authority the list of expected passengers 12 hours prior to the scheduled departure time and the detailed list of the passengers 30 minutes before the exact departure time of the flight. 

For passengers transiting from a third country, the airline must arrange a separate cabin for these people, who do not sit near the incoming passengers from six locations: Tokyo (Japan), Seoul (South Korea), Guangzhou (China), Taipei (Taiwan, China), Phnom Penh (Cambodia) and Vientiane (Laos) and comply with preventive measures.
