Vietnam Airlines introduces premium economy seats for Japanese routes

The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines has introduced its premium economy class for routes connecting Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Tokyo of Japan.

Accordingly, premium economy seats have been installed on Boeing 787-9 and Airbus A350-900 planes, offering more convenient space and associated services compared to the economy ones. The class comes with separate counters for boarding procedures, with its passengers prioritised during custom clearance process and having baggage allowances equaling to those on the business class.
In 2017, Skytrax, a UK–based consultancy which runs an airline and airport review and ranking site has placed Vietnam Airlines 14th among 20 carriers offering the world’s best premium economy class experience. It is the second year in a row Vietnam Airlines has been listed among top 50 globally by SkyTrax.
In addition, Vietnam Airlines has been named as the world's leading airline in the premium economy class and the world's leading cultural airline at the World Travel Awards 2017. Vietnam Airlines’ premium economy class seats are currently available for flights to France, the UK, Germany, Australia, and Japan.
Vietnam Airlines on January 10 announced its estimated 2017 revenue at VND88,400 billion (US$3.8 billion), some 23.5% increase year-on-year. Consequently, the airliner’s pre-tax profit is reported at VND2,800 billion (US$123 million), some 8.3% increase against 2016, the company which partly owned by Japan’s ANA Holdings, said in its statement released today.
Vietnam Airlines and its subsidiaries, Jetstar Pacific and VASCO, operated approximately 180,000 flights in 2017, carrying 26.5 million passengers and 343,000 tonnes of cargo, up 6.7% and 19%, respectively, from 2016. Vietnam Airlines made up roughly 60% of the domestic market share and about 32.3% of the market share of international passengers flying to and from Vietnam.
