Vietnam Airlines flight makes emergency landing in Romania for urgent medical attention

National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines has announced a plane flying from Frankfurt (Germany) to Hanoi (Vietnam) had to make an emergency landing in Bucharest Henri Coanda Airport (Romania) on April 2 to save a Danish passenger after he stopped breathing.

The plane landed at Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport after a doctor had given the sick passenger emergency aid. The Danish passenger is now in stable condition and has been discharged from hospital, according to a representative of Vietnam Airlines .
The flight landed in Hanoi three hours late. The airline said it had to book new tickets for people who were catching connections from Vietnam's capital.
In October, 2017, a Vietnam Airlines plane en route from Hanoi to Paris was forced to make an emergency landing in India after a passenger required urgent medical attention. In January, another Vietnam Airlines plane was forced to make an emergency landing in India’s Kolkata in order to help a passenger who had fainted onboard.
In 2016, Vietnam Airlines was praised for delaying one of its flights by 80 minutes to install a stretcher for transporting a seriously injured passenger from Myanmar to South Korea for surgery, when no other airlines could agree to ferry the man.
Vietnam Airlines was recognised as a 4-star airline for two consecutive years in 2016 and 2017 by the international air transport rating organisation Skytrax.  It is one of the most punctual airlines in the world with on-time performance index of above 90 percent. Also, the carrier was recognised as the “World’s Leading Airline – Premium Economy Class” and the “World’s Leading Cultural Airline” at the World Travel Awards.
Vietnam Airlines targets a 13% increase in revenue and an 8.3% rise in the number of passengers in 2018. Apart from Asia, the airline is also seeking to expand their markets in Europe, according to Vietnam Airlines report.
