Vietnam active in UN peacekeeping mission
The recently completed UN missions in South Sudan and Central Africa of two Vietnamese peacekeepers spread positive social opinions, as heard during a defence session held in Hanoi on October 13.
The Vietnam Peacekeeping Centre reported that it is readying personnel for next year’s missions in Central Africa in April and in South Sudan in July, while its training programmes for liaisons and adjutants will be set for application by the end of 2015.
By June 2016, field hospital staff and an engineer corps will finish their training sessions prior to deployment. English and other professional courses continue to maintain their operations.
Concluding the meeting, Deputy Defence Minister Sen. Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh requested the centre boost communications activities for peacekeeping engagement as well as training standards.
Working closely with foreign partners to ensure safety for Vietnamese officers overseas is essential, he noted.
He also urged expeditious preparations for the debut of the field hospital and the engineer corps.
