The programme sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will support Vietnam’s efforts to prevent, detect and respond to infectious disease threats.
The US$2.1 million project comprises four major components, including cooperation and coordination mechanisms to reduce disease threats in accordance with breeding value chain, pandemic prevention monitoring, trans-border cooperation in the Red River Delta and the Mekong River lower section to prevent outbreaks.
The project also helps to ensuring food safety and security and improving living conditions for farmers.
The USAID has provided more than 60 million USD to support Vietnam's programmes to combat avian influenza and other pandemic threats since 2005.
