Underprivileged students received 400 scholarships
The KF-Samsung Scholarship Awards Ceremony took place on December 5 in Hanoi to present scholarships to Vietnamese students from low-income family.
As many as 400 scholarships were presented to 220 undergraduate students and 150 high school students from disadvantages background who had outstanding academic achievements.
The program was co-organized by the Ministry of Education and Training, the Korean International Exchange Fund and supported by Samsung Electronics Company.
Each university student received a scholarship which worths $ 200, and each high school student received a scholarship which worths $ 100.
Those are students who have undergone difficulties in their lives to achieve academic excellence.
To encourage and motivate pupils and students in academic training to get a new career in the future, in 1995, through the Korean International Exchange Fund, Samsung Electronics Co., South Korea donated $ 1 million to set up an account for the implementation of Samsung-Vietnam academic exchange program.
The entire amount is directed to use for the purpose of enhancing academic exchanges between Korea and Vietnam as well as supporting the study of Vietnam’s elite students.
KF-Samsung Scholarship was implemented by the Korean International Exchange Fund since 1997.
The fund has awarded a total of 2,341 scholarships to pupils, and students, which encourages students to learn better, and shows their responsibility to the community through a variety of different forms.
In the development of education, Vietnam has received support from many countries and domestic and international socio-economic organizations.
Korean firms always play an important role in supporting for education in Vietnam.
Particularly, Samsung Electronics Co. is one of the Korean businesses which have practical activities and effectively support the education and training sector in Vietnam.
