Trade center possible be converted to a museum
An international conference with the theme The new roles played by museums in culture, communication and creativity was kicked off on October 20 at the Goethe Institute in Hanoi.
The two-day conference discussed four topics, including exhibition design, art education, digitalisation of museums and museums as cultural venues.
Fourteen museum experts from neighbouring countries such as Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines, from Germany, and Vietnam shared their experiences in carrying out the four topics and presented insights into the practices in many museums.
Participants include leading professionals from the Berlin State Museums, the Stadel Museum in Frankfurt, the Ayala Museum in the Philippines, as well as from the Museum and Gallery Tuanku Fauziah at the National University of Malaysia.
At the opening ceremony, Germany's Professor Husan Zollaeurnian said German Archaeological Museum has been originated as a busy trade center.
Professor Josel Muhlenbroel also introduced information, pictures displayed at the German Rural Museum which are very attractive to the country's people.
The event creates an opportunity for museums of Vietnam and foreign countries to exchange.
Professor Dang Van Bai, Vice President of the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Committee explained that Vietnamese museums seem paying to attention to the introduction of the past, adding that their contents on dislay are not practical because they do not meeting demand of visitors.
The country's museums have been short of public services for tourists, Bai said.
The organizers hoped the conference will contribute to make changes of museum activities in Vietnam.
On the final day of the conference, participants can talk to experts and exchange personal experiences.
