1. Hoan Kiem Lake:

Hanoi city has also Tran Quoc Pagoda, the oldest ancient temple, was built in the reign of King Ly Nam De (6th century).

4. Temple of Literature (Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam):
Temple of Literature is the first university of Vietnam, the feudal university only that exists in the country.
Temple of Literature is located on Van Mieu Street, 2km west of Hoan Kiem Lake. Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam is a famous historical and cultural relic consisting of the Temple of Literature and Vietnam is first university.

 

The temple was built in 1070 in honor of Confucius, his followers and Chu Van An, a moral figure in Vietnamese education.

5. Thang Long Imperial Citadel:
A host of treasures hidden underneath and left on the ground over 1,300 years has earned the core of the Thang Long Imperial Citadel UNESCO recognition as a world cultural heritage site.
At the No. 18 Hoang Dieu archaeological site, scientists found imprints typical of the Ly, Tran and Le dynasties that revealed much about the origin of Thang Long Imperial Citadel more than 1,300 years ago.
Covering a land area of 47,700 sq. m, the site is enclosed by Hoang Van Thu road to the north, Bac Son road to the south, Hoang Dieu road to the east and Doc Lap road to the west.

Hanoi Cathedral, also known as Saint Joseph's Cathedral, was inaugurated on Christmas Day 1886, two years after its construction. Its design is similar to the architecture of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. 

8. West Lake:
To the north of the old quarter is the enormous Ho Tay. This lake is the largest in Hanoi with a shore length of around 17km (10.6 miles) and is a popular place for recreation with many surrounding gardens, hotels and villas.
West Lake is located not far from the city's center, West Lake is the largest lake in the city. You can rent a bike or a boat to trip around West Lake. West Lake is next to Nghi Tam old village, where also retains the hobby of ancient Hanoians.
