Thousands of young people join "Dance for Kindness” to promote gender equality
“Dance for Kindness” has attracted thousands of students, volunteers, young children in Vietnam`s major cities.
Some 5,000 people participated in a flashmob dance around Hoan Kiem Lake in the heart of Hanoi on November 25 in response to the "Dance for Kindness" program to promote gender equality, the Party’s portal cpv.org.vn reported.The Youth Magazine, Youth Union of Viet Nam, UN Agency for Gender Equality (UN Women) in Vietnam, UNESCO representation in Vietnam, the Embassy of Sweden, and CARE International in Vietnam were among the organizers of the event, which aimed to respond to the World Kindness Week.
“Dance for Kindness” has attracted thousands of students, volunteers, young children in Vietnamese major cities. Painting, parade and flashmob dance were organized to convey the message of preventing violence and abuse of women and children.
The first “Dance for Kindness” program in Vietnam was held in 2014, aiming to inspire, empower and educate people from all walks of life to lead a life of kindness. The event has proven that regardless of differences in race, religion, ethnicity or background, the common behavior that unites all people is kindness.
The theme of this year's “Dance for Kindness” is stopping gender-based violence on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (November 25), also the start of the 16-day Global Action against women violence until December 10, the International Human Rights Day and the National Action Month for Gender Equality and Gender-based Violence Prevention (from November 15 to December 15).
